We believe in the God revealed to us in the Bible. We believe that God is the creator, sustainer, and governor over all things. We believe that God is omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnipresent (all-encompassing). We believe that there is one God existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe each person is fully God while remaining distinctly the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit. We believe that this God—and only this God—is worthy of our praise, honor, and worship.
So we seek to do everything for God’s glory. Sermons, corporate worship, discipleship, missions, etc. all exist to glorify God and to help others glorify God. We want everyone at Life Pointe Church to worship the God described above, knowing him personally and savingly.
God
We believe that God has spoken to us in the Bible. We believe that the Bible is made up of both the Old and New Testaments. We believe that God worked through human beings to compose these books through the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Scriptures are the inspired word of God. They are without error, true in all that they affirm, understandable, necessary for salvation, and authoritative for the Christian. We believe that the Bible—despite its diversity—tells us ONE big story culminating in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that God created all things good, that humanity fell into sin, that God is working to save humanity, and that one day everything will be brought to perfection.
So we seek to do everything in accordance with God’s word. We aim to take it seriously; to study it, know it, and read it regularly. We work hard at Life Pointe to teach from the Bible. We preach from it expositionally, we measure worship songs against it, and we participate in the ordinances (baptism and the Lord’s Supper) as God’s word calls for. The Bible is our ultimate authority at Life Pointe Church.
Scripture
Humanity
We believe that human beings are created in the image of God and are called to act as God’s representatives on the earth. We believe that, because humans are made in God’s image, they are created with inherent value, dignity, and worth. We believe that God made human beings male and female. We believe that God created men and women as equals with different roles to serve for his glory. We believe that God designed human sexuality and it is meant to be expressed in the marriage covenant between one man and one woman. We believe that God instituted marriage for the purpose of companionship, mutual help, and procreation. We believe that human beings have fallen into a state of rebellion against God known as sin. We believe that humanity’s biggest need is to be brought back into relationship with God.
So we treat all people with value, dignity, and worth. We seek to care for the poor, disenfranchised, lonely, and overlooked. We are opposed to any form of ageism, sexism, ableism, or racism in the church. We aim to see all people saved with the good news of the gospel.
Jesus
We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is God incarnate. That God the Son, the second person of the Trinity, became a man in the person of Jesus Christ. We believe that he was born of the virgin Mary, lived a real life, and died. We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man at the same time. We believe that Jesus came to save us from our sins. We believe that Jesus is the only way to be saved and that apart from Jesus there is no salvation.
So we proclaim Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We talk about Jesus in every sermon, class, small group, and all other settings. We trust in Jesus Christ for our salvation and tell others about him knowing that there is salvation in no one else.
The Gospel
We believe that all of Scripture points to the good news that God saves us from our sin in Jesus Christ. We believe that God did this by becoming a man in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived the perfect life, and then offered himself up as a sacrifice for sins on the cross. We believe that in Jesus our sins are forgiven, that we are brought back into relationship with God, and that one day we will be raised up to new life to enjoy God’s presence forever. We believe that all who confess this message and believe it in their heart will be saved. We believe that this message is for all people regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, background, or nationality.
So we do everything with the knowledge of the Gospel in our minds. We know that we are saved through Christ, loved by God, and brought into his family. We do not try to earn God’s love or forgiveness nor do we call for others to try to earn it, but rather to trust in God’s grace and his love. We aim to preach the Gospel all the time to all people.
Church
We believe that all those who trust in Christ are united together as the Church. We believe in the universal church which is made up of everyone throughout history who believes in Jesus Christ. We believe we will enjoy fellowship with all of these people in the New Heavens and New Earth. We believe in the local church where we gather together for worship, word, baptism, and communion. We believe that we are united together as the body of Christ each with gifts given by the Holy Spirit to strengthen the church and build one another up. We believe that the church is Christ’s bride. That he loves her, is jealous for her, and desires her to be holy.
So we love the church. We seek to gather together weekly learning from God’s word, worshipping together, and participating in the ordinances (baptism and the Lord’s Supper). We aim to fulfill the “one another” passages of the New Testament with the other members of our local church. We work to love one another, build one another up, admonish one another, and encourage one another. We diligently strive to protect the holiness of Christ’s church by rooting out sin and guarding against false teaching.
Missions
We believe that every believer is called to be obedient to Jesus. We believe that Jesus Christ commanded us to make disciples, baptize them, and teach them his word. We believe that we are to fulfill this task everywhere we are from our neighborhoods to our workplaces to the unreached people groups of the world. We believe that God has given us this task for the salvation of all people. We believe that we are to go anywhere and everywhere to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed in the world.
So we want every member of Life Pointe Church to see themselves as participating in the mission of Jesus Christ. We aim to make Life Pointe a place where unbelievers can hear the Gospel proclaimed every single week. We want to equip people to share their faith and we want to send people to share their faith. We want Life Pointe Church to be a place where the Lord calls people to go out to the unreached places of the world. We want to see the Gospel go forward through everyday proclamation, local church-planting, and cross-cultural missions.
